Murmu pointed to the increasing participation of women in elections as a positive sign of societal development and national progress. She also praised the Election Commission for its efforts to ensure accessibility for senior citizens, differently-abled voters, and tribal communities in remote areas, noting these initiatives as models of inclusive election management.

Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal commended the Election Commission for conducting elections impartially and peacefully, while Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that India’s voter base had reached over 99 crore and would soon surpass one billion voters.

During the event, President Murmu presented the Best Electoral Practices Awards to state and district officials for their exemplary efforts to increase voter participation, with special recognition for innovative outreach campaigns and the use of technology. Doordarshan received an award for its voter awareness programs.

This year’s theme for National Voters’ Day, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” builds on last year’s message, encouraging citizens to take pride in and fully engage with the democratic process.
