Assam News: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Says Talks for Aircraft Dismantling Plant Underway

Guwahati, Jan 13: Assam may soon host a state-of-the-art aircraft dismantling plant, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealing that discussions are underway with a company interested in setting up the facility. Addressing a felicitation event for meritorious students in Pandu on Monday, Sarma shared that the proposed plant would specialize in receiving decommissioned Boeing aircraft from across the globe for dismantling and processing.

Although the project remains in its proposal stage, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential it holds for transforming Assam into an industrial hub. “This offer showcases Assam’s growing industrial prospects. Whether it materializes or not, it marks a significant step for the state,” Sarma stated.

Sarma also urged students to prepare for the rapidly evolving job market, stressing the importance of emerging technologies such as machine learning, augmented reality, and quantum physics. He emphasized that these fields will dominate the future job landscape, with the next decade focused on innovations related to Industry 4.0.

Encouraging youth to seize new opportunities, Sarma noted that Assam has overcome years of unrest and is now entering a period of rapid industrial growth.
