Itanagar, Jan 17: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday emphasized the critical role of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in driving grassroots development in the state. Speaking at the two-day DCs conference, Khandu stressed that DCs play a vital role in the effective implementation of government policies and ensuring their reach across the state.
The conference, focused on key themes like ‘Surakshit’, ‘Shikshit’, and ‘Swachh’ Arunachal, included discussions on governance improvements in areas such as law and order, public health, education, and sanitation. Khandu underscored the importance of collaboration with guardian ministers and mentor secretaries to streamline the development process and deliver policies to every corner of Arunachal Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also addressed the conference, advocating for the introduction of a third language in schools to preserve indigenous languages. He urged DCs to support the success of this initiative, aligning with the National Education Policy’s focus on promoting tribal languages and cultural heritage.
Mein further highlighted the need to create a ‘Surakshit’ Arunachal by addressing substance abuse and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the youth. The conference aimed to align state governance strategies with the overarching vision of sustainable and inclusive growth for Arunachal Pradesh.
