Urvashi Rautela is facing backlash after she appeared to downplay the seriousness of Saif Ali Khan’s recent attack during an interview. The actor was stabbed at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday and underwent surgery, with his condition now stable.
During the interview, Rautela expressed concern about safety in Mumbai, but her comments were overshadowed by her display of luxury jewelry. She talked about her insecurity in wearing expensive items in public, but also took the opportunity to show off her diamond-studded Rolex watch and a mini watch gifted by her parents. Additionally, she mentioned the success of her latest film Daaku Maharaaj, which has crossed Rs 105 crore at the box office.
She said, “It is very unfortunate. Now Daaku Maharaaj has crossed Rs 105 crore at the box office and my mother gifted me this diamond-studded Rolex, while my father gifted me this mini watch on my finger, but we don’t feel confident to wear it outside openly. There is this insecurity that anybody can attack us.”
Her remarks, which juxtaposed the topic of jewelry with the discussion of a violent incident, led to widespread criticism on social media. One user pointed out, “A man almost died—look at my jewellery,” while another criticized, “She just advertised to potential robbers that she has this really expensive watch.”
While Rautela did offer her prayers for Saif Ali Khan and his family, her controversial statements have drawn strong reactions online, with many questioning her judgment in mixing discussions of safety and personal wealth.
