Guwahati, Jan 23: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently concluded a significant three-day visit to South Korea, aimed at strengthening economic ties and attracting investments for Assam. During his visit, he met with South Korea’s Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Startups, Oh Youngju, to discuss collaboration opportunities.
Key Focus Areas of the Discussions
The meeting centered on potential partnerships between entrepreneurs from Assam and South Korea, particularly in areas that align with global trends and Assam’s growth aspirations.
- Renewable and Clean Energy: Both parties explored ways to collaborate on sustainable energy solutions that could benefit Assam’s development while promoting environmentally friendly practices.
- Semiconductors and Advanced Technology: The discussions also highlighted the potential for investments in semiconductor manufacturing and other cutting-edge technologies, which could pave the way for Assam to become a technological hub.
Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit
The discussions with South Korean leaders and businesses were a precursor to the highly anticipated Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, which is scheduled for February 25-26 in Guwahati. This summit aims to position Assam as a top destination for global investors by showcasing the state’s potential in sectors like technology, energy, and innovation.
Chief Minister Sarma took to social media to share his excitement about the meeting. On X (formerly known as Twitter), he wrote:
