The event, which commenced on January 13, is expected to continue until February 26. Pilgrim numbers have surged daily, with millions arriving for the holy bath, particularly on auspicious days. The government had anticipated more than 45 crore visitors for this year’s gathering.

On Thursday alone, over 30 lakh devotees had bathed at the Sangam by noon, including 10 lakh ‘kalpvasis’. The Makar Sankranti festival saw the largest attendance, with around 3.5 crore pilgrims, while Paush Purnima attracted over 1.7 crore.

Despite the overwhelming influx of visitors, daily life in Prayagraj remains unaffected, with schools, businesses, and offices continuing operations. Restrictions have only been imposed on key bathing festival days to manage the crowd efficiently.
