Arunachal News: CM Pema Khandu Interacts with Brahmaputra River Rafting Expedition Team

Itanagar, Jan 11: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday met with the participants of a historic rafting expedition set to traverse the entire length of the Brahmaputra River. Organized by the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), the expedition will begin on January 14 from Gelling in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh and will conclude on February 14 at Hatsingimari in Dhubri district of Assam.

During the interaction, Khandu was briefed by NIMAS Director Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal about the objectives, challenges, and goals of the 916 km journey. As vice president of NIMAS, Khandu expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and wished them success on their challenging endeavor.

The expedition aims to promote adventure tourism, raise environmental awareness, and inspire youth to engage in adventure sports. Khandu highlighted the significance of the Brahmaputra River and expressed pride in the team’s efforts to undertake such a historic journey.

The team, led by Col Jamwal and Capt Kavitha Vasupalli, includes seven members from Arunachal Pradesh. This expedition is expected to contribute to the development of river rafting as an adventure sport in India.
