Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Pays Tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Tokyo

Tokyo, Jan 23: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. CM Sarma, who is currently on an official visit to Japan, remembered Netaji’s significant contributions to India’s independence struggle and his efforts to garner support from Japan in the fight against colonial rule.

“Japan had a special relation with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Today, I began my day in Tokyo by paying floral tributes to Netaji at the Indian Embassy. I recollected his visits to Japan and the immense efforts he undertook to secure Japan’s support in fighting colonial rule. We continue to be deeply influenced by Netaji’s thoughts and his unparalleled contribution to India’s history,” CM Sarma posted on X (formerly Twitter).

January 23 is observed as Parakram Diwas in India to honor the birth of Netaji, who was born in Cuttack, Odisha, in 1897. The Indian government officially declared January 23 as Parakram Diwas in 2021 to commemorate his role in the nation’s freedom struggle.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, known for founding the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), remains one of India’s most iconic freedom fighters. His famous slogans, such as “Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom!” continue to inspire generations.

To mark Netaji’s 128th birth anniversary, a grand celebration will take place in Cuttack, Odisha, from January 23 to 25, 2025, featuring cultural events, exhibitions, and various activities to honor his legacy.
