The Chief Minister revealed that state-of-the-art schools will be established across all Assembly constituencies in Assam, with some constituencies receiving more than one such school, fully equipped with modern facilities to significantly enhance the quality of education.

In response to dissatisfaction among state government employees regarding the New Pension Scheme (NPS), CM Sarma announced that the scheme would be rolled back.

Instead, the Central government’s Unified Pension Scheme will be implemented from April, under which employees completing 25 years of service will receive a pension of 50% of their last drawn salary along with 50% of Dearness Allowance.

CM Sarma also addressed the issue of employees recruited before the introduction of the NPS but excluded from the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). These employees will now be shifted to OPS.

In addition, CM Sarma outlined plans for the development of Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and Silchar into cities, with Dibrugarh set to become Assam’s second capital.

A new Assembly complex will be established in Dibrugarh by 2027.
