Assam News: Six People Arrested in Guwahati for Breaching Cattle Preservation Act

GUWAHATI, Jan 23: Six individuals have been arrested by Guwahati Police for posting a controversial Instagram video depicting cow slaughter. The video, which triggered public outrage, led to a case being registered under the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, at Hatigaon Police Station.

Arrested Individuals:

  1. Sahil Khan (20), son of Surman Khan
  2. Hafizur Islam (19), son of Nur Husain
  3. Rokibul Husain (20), son of Atawar Rahman
  4. Sahidul Islam (30), son of Azmal Haque
  5. Izaz Khan (26), son of Surman Khan
  6. Jahidul Islam (24), son of Kadam Ali

All six are residents of Asalpara village in Kamrup district.

A senior police official stated, “The arrests were made following a complaint lodged at Hatigaon Police Station. Such acts not only violate the law but also disrupt public harmony.”
