Mizoram’s agricultural products are set to reach a wider market with a new partnership between the Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) and Reliance Retail. Under the agreement, five key products from Mizoram—ginger, chili, passion fruit, dragon fruit, and pineapple—will be sold at Reliance Fresh and Freshpik outlets, including the prominent Jio World Drive in Mumbai. Initially, ginger, chili, and passion fruit will be available, with dragon fruit and pineapple expected to join the offerings soon.
The collaboration is also aimed at promoting rural women entrepreneurs in Mizoram. As part of this initiative, in December 2024, Reliance Fresh began sourcing fresh ginger and chili from women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. The announcement was made by Prof. Lalnilawma, Mizoram’s Minister for Rural Development, during the 10th Regional SARAS Fair in Aizawl.
Additionally, a new Reliance retail outlet is being planned in Aizawl, which will provide local farmers with more opportunities to sell their produce directly to consumers, further boosting the state’s agricultural economy.
