One Nation One Election: President Murmu Outlines Benefits for Consistent Governance

In her address on the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu outlined significant national reforms and the country’s achievements over the past year. She emphasized the potential of the ‘One Nation One Election‘ plan, suggesting that it could streamline governance, reduce policy paralysis, and lower the financial burden on the country.

President Murmu also spoke on the country’s progress in overhauling colonial-era laws. She praised the government’s efforts to replace the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act with new, more modern legal frameworks, focusing on justice delivery, especially for women and children.

Reflecting on India’s democratic evolution, the President acknowledged the pivotal role of the Constituent Assembly, highlighting the contributions of women leaders like Sarojini Naidu and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur in shaping India’s foundational values.

On the economic front, the President noted India’s sustained growth, citing programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana as key contributors to financial inclusion. She also underscored the government’s commitment to uplifting marginalized communities through targeted development programs.

In recognition of India’s cultural heritage, President Murmu highlighted initiatives to preserve linguistic diversity and praised the recognition of languages like Assamese, Bengali, and Marathi as classical languages.

On education, she commended the government’s investments in improving quality and infrastructure, noting that India had risen in global rankings for innovation. She also lauded the country’s achievements in science and technology, including the National Quantum Mission and the Genome India Project.

The President highlighted India’s growing space capabilities, celebrating ISRO’s recent milestones, including the successful Space Docking Experiment. She also lauded India’s success in international sports, noting the achievements at the Paris Olympics and the country’s record performance at the Paralympic Games.

Lastly, President Murmu highlighted India’s leadership on climate change, showcasing initiatives like Mission Lifestyle for Environment and the successful ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which exceeded its target of planting 80 crore trees.
