Sikkim Teachers Embark on Educational Exposure Tour to Tamil Nadu and Kerala

Gangtok, Jan 20: As the students get to enjoy their vacations, the teachers gear themselves up for a new experience that will once again prove to be educationally beneficial for them. These accomplished teachers accompanied by their partners will be enjoying an 11-day trip together to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

In their words, these heroes are teachers who have received State and Commendation Awards. Before this year’s program started, the State Government of Sikkim had conducted a 5-day orientation for teachers during the Central Teachers’ Day event held in SNT Complex Sikkim. The motivation behind this program is the Government of Sikkim’s desire to further develop the teaching and cultural capacities of educators. The instructors will go to schools in the countryside as well as urban areas to foster the exchange of knowledge and growth.

Minister Raju Basnet made it clear to the members the significance of the program and expected the visit to offer useful feedback to help further develop the quality of education in Sikkim. He underlined the government’s resolve to run the project, which aims to help teachers grow professionally, a process based on such experiences.

Comrade Ravindra Kumar Narphel, the current Sikkim Chief Minister brought the idea to the school and announced it during Teacher’s Day celebrations in September 2022. They also proposed day outings to the farm of organics in Kushing, the power plant at Yazman, and the relay inspection house at RGC. Master Teachers come from anywhere in India, while State and Commendation Teachers are selected to be a part of such programs as this one.

A total of four senior officers with Tashi Chophel, the Secretary of School Education, Sonam Denzongpa who is the Principal Director of School Education, Tsheringkee Chingapa, the Director of School Education and Planning, and Kiran Dahal, the Deputy Director of Planning took part in the flag-off ceremony.

Through this educational visit, Sikkim government aims to impart educators with the skills to implement the latest educational practices, foster the use of creative thinking and promote the standard of the state’s education system.
