Zomato has officially announced that its board of directors has approved a resolution to change the company’s name to Eternal Ltd, marking a significant shift in its business direction. The rebranding, which includes a new logo, is still subject to approval by shareholders, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and other regulatory authorities.
The decision to rebrand reflects Zomato’s evolution into a multi-business entity, with its expanded portfolio now encompassing food delivery through Zomato, quick commerce with Blinkit, going-out services via District, and B2B supplies through Hyperpure.
The company’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal, confirmed the change in an exchange filing on February 6, 2025, and urged shareholders to support the new direction.
As part of the rebranding, Zomato’s website will shift from zomato.com to eternal.com, and its stock ticker will change from Zomato to Eternal. However, the Zomato app will retain its original name.
The change follows an internal transition that began after Zomato acquired Blinkit. The company had already started using the name “Eternal” internally to distinguish its business from the Zomato app. According to Goyal, this name change comes as Blinkit has grown into a major driver of Zomato’s future growth.
Zomato’s Q3FY25 results show a 64% year-on-year increase in revenue, totaling Rs 5,405 crore. The quick commerce arm, Blinkit, saw a 21% revenue jump, further supporting the company’s broader business strategy.
Reflecting on the significance of the new name, Goyal stated, “Eternal is a powerful name that carries both promise and paradox, symbolizing the responsibility to build a lasting legacy.”
